Improve your language skills with the help of a librarian

e-lugerWe have various possibilities for language learners during the crisis period. Librarians offer language practicing opportunities online in Estonian, English, Korean, Swedish, German and Russian. In addition to that, 14 librarians have now joined the mentorship program at the Integration Foundation:

The library’s e-materials offer something for every learner. The e-library ELLU has a selection of contemporary e-books in Estonian – by both local and foreign authors. You can read the e-books on your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. ELLU is suitable for the visually impaired. A good selection of Estonian-language books is a great source of Estonian language practice.

The e-library OverDrive has e-books and audiobooks in English and Russian. You can read or listen to the books in various smart devices by using your web browser or the application. You can also download the books onto your e-reader. The wide selection of books includes read-along books in English and different language learning books.

The e-library RBdigital allows you to borrow and read e-magazines in English, Russian and Chinese. The selection includes arts and crafts magazines, home improvement magazines and hobby (photography, technology etc) magazines. For example, you can read Newsweek, All About History, Backpacker, Health & Fitness and Lonely Planet Traveller. The children’s and youth section includes such e-magazines as Minecraft World Magazine, How It Works and Storytime. It is possible to print out articles. There is no limit to the amount of magazines you borrow at one time or the length of time you keep them on your account. It is possible to read the e-magazines in your web browser or in the RBdigital application.

In order to use our e-libraries you must first register as Tallinn Central Library’s patron here. When logging in to OverDrive or ELLU e-libraries your username is your personal ID-code and your password is your My ESTER password. The RBdigital user account can be generated by using your personal ID-code. You can find more information about e-libraries on Tallinn Central Library’s webpage. We also recommend checking out our reading blogs.
